ADEBAYO DARAMOLA’S MUSIC BIOGRAPHY

He is Adebayo Daramola, a well-rounded Nigerian Reggae Artist. His stage name is Captain Carpenter. Even now, some of his friends and associates are still curious about the symbolism behind Captain Carpenter’s artistic name, especially with regards to the enigmatic sounding name “Carpenter.”
Yet, in Carpenter’s stage name, the operative component is the title “Captain.” 23 years ago in 1998 when he started the pursuit of a successful music career, he was professionally a computer programmer on grade level 10 with Nigeria’s National Population Commission.
Since his civil service grade level was equal to the rank of a Captain in the Army he adopted Captain as his musical title. He subsequently coined Carpenter as an artistic name for the reason that Carpenter rhymes very well and quite pleasantly with the word ‘’Captain.’’
As a versatile singer and song writer, the greatest stylistic influence on Captain Carpenter’s artistic impulse is Black Uhuru, the famous Black Jamaican Root Reggae Band.
Carpenter believes absolutely in the sentiments and philosophies woven into the music of Anikulapo Kuti, Bob Marley, James Brown, Peter Tosh, Majek Fashek, Steel Pulse, Terra Cota, Jimmy Cliff, Burning Spear, Bunny Livingstone (also known as Bunny Wailer) and all the other legendary heroes of the Black African music heritage.
Today, he confidently professes that Reggae is bound to blossom and bounce back for the political, socio-economic and cultural liberation of black people worldwide.
